CTP insurance is provided by five Government-approved insurers: AAMI, Allianz, NRMA, QBE and Youi.

Each insurer provides the same Policy of Insurance and needs to comply with relevant laws and rules.

The CTP Regulator oversees the CTP Scheme to monitor insurers' compliance with these obligations.

In South Australia, you pay for CTP insurance at the same time as you renew a vehicle's registration. Find out more about purchasing CTP.

What is CTP insurance?

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance can provide cover for injuries or deaths caused by a motor vehicle accident.

By having CTP insurance, drivers who cause an accident are protected from the financial impact of any injuries or deaths caused in the accident.

Lifetime Support Scheme

The CTP Scheme works together with the Lifetime Support Scheme (LSS). The LSS supports people who have been very seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident in South Australia, regardless of who caused the accident.

The LSS is administered by the Lifetime Support Authority.
