Whiplash is one of the most common injuries to result from motor vehicle accidents in South Australia. If you have a whiplash-related injury, there are several resources available to you below that might assist in understanding and managing your recovery.

Whiplash Injury Recovery booklet

Whiplash Injury Recovery – a Self-Help Guide* is designed to help people who have a whiplash injury and to supplement care being provided by a health professional.

This booklet provides an explanation of whiplash and advice on how to manage your injury, including an exercise program and self-help recommendations. The advice is based on the results of clinical trials, research into neck disorders and the authors’ extensive clinical experience in the area of whiplash-associated disorders and other neck pain syndromes.

* The CTP Insurance Regulator provides this booklet with permission from its authors, the University of Queensland, Emeritus Professor Gwendolen Jull and Professor Michele Sterling, and its publisher, Motor Accident Insurance Commission. The booklet is for your information only. It should not be used as a substitute for the advice of a health professional. If you have any difficulties or concerns with the exercise or advice in this booklet, please consult your health professional.

My Whiplash Navigator

My Whiplash Navigator has been developed as a joint project between experts at the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney, and you can register either as a patient or a clinician.

For injured people, it provides helpful resources and information such as facts about whiplash, advice on recovering from a whiplash injury, and instructions on how to do the recommended exercises at home.

For clinicians, the Whiplash Navigator provides standard examination and recommended steps for the assessment of a whiplash injury, relevant outcome measures, prognostic tools and treatment/management strategies (note: information provided with permission).
