What to do if you are injured

If you are injured in a vehicle accident, follow these
four steps:

1. Seek medical attention if required.

If you are injured, seek medical attention. Call an ambulance if required.

2. Report your accident to Police within 24 hours.

If you have been in a crash, it is important that you report it to Police within 24 hours. If your motor vehicle is damaged, contact your motor vehicle insurer (if any) in respect of that damage.

Where a death has occurred, the accident must be reported to SAPOL within 90 minutes.

3. Notify the CTP Approved Insurer of the at-fault vehicle

Notify the CTP Approved Insurer of the at-fault motor vehicle by completing an Accident Report Form. If you are not sure of the at-fault  vehicle’s insurer, go to ezyreg or contact the CTP Regulator for more information.

If you are the owner, person in charge of, or driver of a motor vehicle that is involved in an accident resulting in the death of, or bodily injury to a person, you must notify the insurer of the motor vehicle as soon as practicable, by completing and submitting an Accident Report Form.

4. Complete the required forms if you intend to make a claim for your injuries

If you intend to make a claim for your injuries, complete the required forms.
